Oh man, what a night at the Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota. The Wild and Jets took the ice looking to prove themselves before the preseason comes to an end. With the regular season looming, players on the bubble of the rosters are looking to make an impact. Unfortunately for the Jets, anyone looking to make a statement on Sunday, would have to wait. They suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the wild.
Saturday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, The Canucks and Flames squared off for the second time in as many nights. The earlier matchup between the two, Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome, ended in a 4-1 victory for the Flames. The Flames also won the mandated overtime period for the preseason game, leaving their bitter rivals thirsty for revenge on Saturday. The Canucks came out firing quick and took the lead at 9:55 of the first period, when Brendan Gaunce piled in a rebound shot off the left pad of Karri Ramo, coming off a quick shot from Radim Vrbata. The glory would only last for so long as Brandon Bollig would add tallies at 16:41 of the first, and 00:25 of the second. Through out the rest of the second period the Canucks piled on the offense and came away with a 16-4 shot advantage and tied the game at 2 going into the third.
