Oh man, what a night at the Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota. The Wild and Jets took the ice looking to prove themselves before the preseason comes to an end. With the regular season looming, players on the bubble of the rosters are looking to make an impact. Unfortunately for the Jets, anyone looking to make a statement on Sunday, would have to wait. They suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the wild.
4 First period goals from the wild would set the tone for the entire game. Niederreiter got things going with a goal just under four minutes into the period. Coyle, Grandlund, and Dumba
would also add tallies before the period would end. Another 3 Second period goals from the Wild, left the Jets in disgrace at a ridiculous deficit of 7-0 (Goals coming from Koivu, Parise, and another from Dumba). Under 10 minutes into the third Brodin would add a little bit of salt to the wound for Jets fans, making it 8-0. While the Jets were able to add a goal to the game, leaving the final score 8-1, it was a pitiful performance for the group. Much improvement needs to be made, if the Jets will have any success throughout the year, and to reach the playoffs once again. For the Wild, the inconsistent play will be the issue. Getting shut out the previous night, the Wild came back with an 8 goal performance against the Jets to show what they can do when at their best. If the Wild can keep up this style of play they can give the major teams in the West another run at the playoffs.
