We all have a voice, yet some of us remain quiet
That quiet man is not LeRoy Weltmon.
LeRoy just wants to be heard by all of his fellow Spartans from Hagadorn to Harrison. His dream to be the voice of the crosswalks. "Wait...Wait...Wait.." Repeats LeRoy as he speaks fluently into the microphone, "Hagadorn walk." Pure perfection. LeRoy's voice may be a gift from the Greek god Vocumus himself. "A mixture of Marvin Gaye, Gilbert Godfrey, with a splash of Helen Keller in there is what most people say about my voice" LeRoy recalls. I asked him why, why the crosswalks? He said he is ready for the big time, after a couple years working at Taco Bell announcing when orders are up, the step is only natural. His biggest influence? His great uncle's wife's college roommate's second cousin. "I've never met her but I feel her presence everyday when I speak." Truly inspirational.

All of us hear it, few of us abide by it, but it is heard nonetheless. LeRoy wants to be heard on campus and creates a role model all of us can strive to be like. And LeRoy is close he is among 3 finalist for the new crosswalk voice. LeRoy is competing against seasoned veterans in their field. "The voice profession is very competitive," says Mick Rorick, "I've been in the game for 25 years and still don't know what will happen tomorrow." Mick claims that there is always someone trying to take your job and the studio will have no problem letting him have it. "Cut throat" as Mick puts it. LeRoy knows the difficulties awaiting him, yet he says he will keep moving forward and never look back. "Its what I was born to do" LeRoy claims.
Good Luck LeRoy and may the odds be ever in your favor.
